IMTS 2008 - Chicago, USA

AFM recently travelled to the IMTS trade show held in Chicago in September.

IMTS is the world's second largest manufacturing trade show, second only to EMO. Spanning six days, this impressive event had over 90,000 visitors through its doors and featured more than 15,000 new machine tools, controls, software, components, accessories, systems and more. The show was an excellent means of networking with industry figures and witnessing the latest technologies and developments the global manufacturing sector has to offer.

IMTS gave our Technical Sales Manager, Howard Crampton a good chance to meet up with key figures from all of our principal partners in the one place, to learn more about their latest products and business developments.

Howard also used IMTS as an opportunity to inspect and discuss a range of other manufacturing accessory products direct with the manufactures. This directly brought about the addition of the PuckMaster brand of swarf compacting products to our existing range of productivity enhancing accessories from Alfa Laval, Iemca, Losma, SMW Autoblok and Zoller.

AFM is proud to announce the addition of the PuckMaster range of chip and swarf compacters into our world class product range.

Complementing our environmentally friendly filtration and cleaning products from
Alfa Laval and Losma, these swarf compacting systems are designed to transform all metalworking waste into compact, moisture free briquettes or ‘Pucks’, ready to be then sold back to scrap metal dealers at a much greater value.

Keep feeding your machines with Iemca

If you’re operating fast CNC production lathes, you can ill afford to have your machines sitting idle waiting for stock. With a magazine-style automatic short bar loader from Iemca, you can achieve continuous unattended operation, thus keeping down cycle times, maintaining consistent production times to help meet schedules and reducing those all important costs.

The latest VIP 80 E-II bar loader from Iemca is a compact and reliable loader that offers great flexibility without any adjustments. Entering the bar diameter into the hand-held operator panel, both magazine and guide channel automatically align the centre of the bar with the centre of the spindle. Even bar selection is automatic.

The screw-type feed system allows accurate and silent positioning and the brushless motor allows feed speed and push to be adjusted to exactly the right values for each phase in the cycle.

Bar drop control devices optimise the functioning of the bar loader by depositing the bar in the guide channel accurately and without impact, maintaining overall part quality.

The VIP 80 E-II has a bar diameter range of Ø 5 - 80 mm, bar length range of
90 – 1615 mm and a magazine capacity of 650 mm.
